Etymology of Generic name Contrived from an - without, and exopod, the only character that differentiates this taxon from Apseudes being the absence of an exopod from the cheliped on peroepod 1.
Etymology of specific name From the latin abditus - hidden, secret, and spina - a thorn or spine, referring to the maxilliped palp inner spines and the proximal spiniform apopphysis on the basis of pereopods 1 to 3 (noun in apposition) (Ref. 116537).
